The weekend forecast looked pretty dismal on Friday as we were trying to make the call whether the rain and storms would be as much of gloom and doom as they were calling for. It was going to be a morning decision. A new 12M Havoc 4 just hit my porch Friday that I wanted
to test out (review coming soon). Luckily, the storms turned out to be just a bit of rain when heading to Sandusky and the only precip we got was for a few hours overnight.
Saturday, Aga and myself made the first crossing with a mountain of gear. The wind was still light so it made for an easy trip over there. Then headed to the leeward pick up spot to grab Patrick, Jerry and Egan. Don showed up later in the day on the Ski. Nice 12M all day Saturday. I tried riding down a one way channel and was going to ollie over a 10 foot gap to the next pool. All was going well until the water ended up being much shallower than anticipated. Caught a fin. Went for a tumble. Ripped a hole in my barely used wetsuit. Don was hitting some unhooked raleys. Jerry chased Egan around with great skill and prowess. Aga got a couple rides in. Patrick kept the sand on the beach. Good Day.
Sunday, Mark, Hans, Chris and Don all showed up. There was even more wind Sunday but it was up and down. Not really gusty but 5 mins you would have power then 5 mins it would die. Mark decided to cruise the Glory Hole which was full of carp. He was literally riding right over their backs while Patrick was trying to spear them. On the way back to the boat launch Mark had the great idea to spray the Aquagnar. He had a good laugh until all his gear and one of his crew fell off the back. They could barely lift the kite bags after they got a soaking.
As we were getting everything lined up to head back. I took the Gnar out for some speed runs. Into the wind it was humming along on just the prop. That boat still scares me. Hans got a quick vid. I should have kept going by the camera.
And here's the vid Don threw together.
